FROM THE MUDEJAR ART TO THE COVERING WITH BRICK FINISHING

Since ancient times, man has sought different alternatives to build pleasant and comfortable habitats where to take shelter, for this reason, objects as simple as the mud brick, have accompanied and evolved, hand in hand with man throughout history.

The oldest brick was found in Jericho, dating back to 8300 BC. At the beginning they were made by taking mud from the ground with a stick, then mixing it with water and later kneading it to give it a rectangular shape, then drying it in the sun.

Wood and stone were more commonly used for construction, but in places where these materials were scarce, bricks provided an excellent solution. This generated an important advance, not only in construction, but also from the architectural point of view, since it was even used to determine border areas, as was the case of the Mudejar art representative of the Middle Ages in Spain, whose differentiating characteristic was the brick and tile.

Advances in masonry and finishes meant that at a certain point in time the buildings were covered with cement, plaster or paint, thus hiding the construction technique used in the works. However, many people still prefer to keep the brick finish, vindicating the importance of brick in the history of mankind. For those who prefer this type of finish, the range of possibilities is wide, allowing to obtain rustic or elegant decorated spaces as desired.

Today, there are many different construction techniques, and in many of these cases brick is dispensable, however, those who wish to recreate a space with a brick finish can easily do so with a covering of clay-coated paper.

This resource for decoration and finishes will allow you to personalize your spaces even more.

For this project we worked hand in hand with a design company from California. Our methodology consisted of receiving the requirement from the client, generating a working base concept, presenting a complete proposal of materials and furniture until receiving approval from our client and obtaining complete satisfaction.

“When we looked to RG Wallcovering we had an idea in mind, however, this team helped us take it to another level with great quality in the details and finish, with a team of designers that understood our need”. Said our client when he saw the finished work.

In this case, the playroom installed in the basement became the favorite place of the home, with basic colors, wooden floor, furniture made of wood, metal and cement, resulting in a cozy space, with excellent distribution, lighting and balance.

In this case, the impact obtained is sobriety and elegance.
