WHAT KIND OF SPACE DOES A PRESTIGIOUS PRODUCER, SCREENWRITER, FILM AND TELEVISION DIRECTOR LIKE RYAN MURPHY LIVE IN?

Ryan Murphy is an American writer, director, and producer best known for his work in television. Murphy began his career as a journalist and later transitioned into television writing and production. Series such as “Popular” (1999-2001), “Nip/Tuck” (2003-2010), and “American Horror Story” (2011-present) have received widespread critical acclaim.

When Ryan Murphy bought a federal home on Cape Cod, he didn’t anticipate that COVID-19 would delay the remodeling process. Nevertheless, we would like to highlight certain aspects of the decor, including the choice of wallpaper and the impeccable work carried out by the designer David Cafiero, in collaboration with our technical team, to achieve the desired outcome.

Cafiero’s design style is characterized by the use of elegant and refined materials and a neutral color palette. He often incorporates traditional design elements such as moldings and paneling to create a timeless ambiance. Moreover, he is known for incorporating beautiful textiles like velvets, linens, and silks to add texture and richness to his spaces.

One of Cafiero’s signature design elements is the seamless integration of antiques, which lends a sense of time and authenticity to his spaces. He excels at layering and possesses an eye for creating dynamic spaces that are both functional and beautiful.

Cafiero is renowned for his ability to blend classic and modern interiors. By combining traditional elements with contemporary pieces, he creates elegant and livable spaces. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality have earned him a reputation as one of the best interior designers in the industry.

In terms of the wallpaper installation, we had the pleasure of working with John T. Golden on this project. We can attest to his exceptional skills and talent as a wallpaper craftsman. John’s attention to detail, experience, and meticulousness are evident in his work, which explains why his clients frequently return for new projects. Working with John was a pleasure, as he consistently maintained a professional and responsive approach. His unparalleled experience in the field made it a great opportunity to collaborate with him.

WHAT WAS THE HOUSE LIKE BEFORE OUR INTERVENTION?

The Federal style of architecture, also known as the Adam style, was popular in the United States during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This style is characterized by its classic details, symmetry, and delicate ornamentation. When it comes to interior decoration, the Federal style is known for its intricate molding, fine woodwork, and the use of elegant materials like marble and gilt metal.

Regarding upscale materials, many Federal-style homes feature high-quality woods such as mahogany or cherry for furniture and cabinets. Gold metal accents, such as brass or gold leaf, were also commonly found in the interiors of this style. Additionally, fine marbles and other natural stones like alabaster were often used for fireplace mantels and other architectural details.

WHAT PAPERS WERE CHOSEN?

A wallpaper with a yellow background and a pattern of roses with white leaves was chosen as a beautiful, classic, and slightly daring option suitable for any interior space. The warm yellow background provides a cheerful and welcoming feeling, while the delicate pink roses and fresh white leaves offer a touch of femininity and sophistication.

These wallpapers can be used to create a wide variety of interior design styles, ranging from traditional to contemporary. In a traditional setting, they evoke a sense of classic elegance and refinement, while in a more modern context, they add a splash of color and interest to an otherwise neutral space.

The combination of yellow and pink is timeless and works well in multiple settings, making this wallpaper a versatile option. Whether used in a bedroom, living room, or dining room, it is sure to add a touch of sophistication and beauty.

Furthermore, as an upholstery expert, I must say that the Brunschwig & Fils Collection, Cevennese, is absolutely impressive. This collection offers a beautiful range of wallpaper patterns that are elegant and sophisticated, making them the perfect addition to any space. The intricate designs and attention to detail in each pattern draw inspiration from true French flora and fauna. Additionally, the collection provides a variety of colors and textures, ensuring there is something for every taste and style. The exceptional quality of the wallpaper is evident due to the excellent materials used in its manufacturing process. Cevennes celebrates the old and the new, showcasing a wide range of stunning designs that transport you through the countryside, figuratively and literally, with their striking color stories.

Another impressive choice is a wallpaper with a white background and a pattern of black and white plants and birds. The white background provides a clean and neutral canvas, while the black and white pattern of plants and birds adds visual interest and texture to the space.

This paper is especially suitable for creating a nature-inspired interior design. The botanical elements in the pattern pay homage to the beauty of the outdoors, while the monochrome palette maintains an overall look that is sophisticated and refined.

The black and white color scheme is versatile and complements a variety of stronger colors, making this wallpaper an excellent option for toning interior spaces and creating unique color contrasts. Such wallpapers can be used in contemporary settings to add a touch of graphic interest or in more traditional settings to provide a timeless elegance.

The final touch in the design emerged from a dialogue between the designer and the homeowner, where the decoration was completed with unique art pieces and furniture that, in some cases, replicate the patterns on the wallpapers. This added an air of surrealism that characterizes some of Murphy’s productions, resulting in the perfect combination of every detail in the house.
